Two New Updates: Tag Pagination & Simplified Comment Moderation

Today we launched two small updates:

Tag Pagination
It's great to see so many customers using the new custom page tags feature. In some cases, as many custom pages were being assigned to a certain tag, pages were getting lengthy. So, we've now split up these pages to include only 5 custom pages per page and then pagination to get to the next and last pages. As an example, there are 70 custom pages under the reward programs tag on AirlineRewards.us. Rather than one long page with links and descriptions to all 70 of these pages, it's now presented in a nice user-friendly way.

Simplified Comment Moderation
Customers in the Enhanced and Managed accounts have the ability for site visitors to post comments on any page. Until now, you've had to approve or deny any new comment through the WhyPark Dashboard after receiving an alert that a new comment has been posted. Now, we include the comment in the alert email along with a link to approve or deny the comment directly. This should help make life a bit easier for those sites receiving a lot of comments.

Next up: Additional filters and options for viewing your stats.

New Site Category & Template Image Selection Tool

One of the many benefits to the Parked.com acquisition is access to greater amounts of keyword and domain analysis that we didn't previously have. Parked.com does a great job at determining what a domain is about and categorizing the domain with a very specific template. Since the acquisition, we've been using that data to match keywords and select images for templates. However, the actual data and ability to change the template image has been behind the scenes.

Today, we've launched a new update that has officially aligned the categorization and templates with the data we have. You'll no longer see the basic Category menu when adding or editing a domain name. You now have control right down to the very specific template categorization. The main My Sites dashboard now also uses the new Category names.

Here is an example to better illustrate the changes:

When adding a Domain Name to WhyPark, you will see the option to choose a specific category and template image pair by clicking on the "Pick A Category" link.

After clicking on the "Pick A Category" link, you'll see a window with a search box to find the best template. After you type in at least 3 characters, we'll start displaying matching templates and filtering further as you continue to type.

To see the image associated with a template, click on it to see a preview.

If you're happy with the image and template categorization, click on the "Change" submit button to save your changes. The window will close and you can continue adding detail to your site.

If you don't choose a category and template, we'll immediately analyze the domain name and make the most relevant choices. You can always edit the category / template image at any time in the Site Settings for a domain.

Finally, you can also set a template in bulk for any number of domains in the My Sites dashboard by selecting the domains and choosing the "Change Category" option under the Bulk Actions menu on the right.

As of December 22, 2009, we have over 4,300 category templates and are currently adding at least 200 new images each week. In some cases, you may find that we've picked a template that doesn't have a specific image yet. In those cases, we show the top-level category's image. As we continue to add new images, the template's image will automatically update on your site. Or, you can choose a different template as described above.

As always, if you have any questions, please contact us at support@whypark.com, through our live chat support in the WhyPark dashboard, or through the WhyPark/Parked Forum.

New WhyPark Feature: Custom Page Tags

Tags are commonly used on blogs as a way to organize certain pages and blog posts by similar subject. We've now added tagging functionality to WhyPark custom pages.

For those customers who add a significant number of unique pages to their WhyPark sites, this will be a welcome update. Not only will it help add depth to your WhyPark sites, it will also be a nice way to group common pages by a certain theme.

As an example, on AirlineRewards.us we have about 75 pages of unique content. Some pages relate to airline rewards in general, others on donating rewards, and then a large number of individual airline reward programs. By using the Tagging feature, we can group similar pages.

Here's a step-by-step tutorial on setting up tags for your custom pages. In these screenshots, we've already added several tags and have tagged pages.

  1. Go to My Sites, choose a domain and click on Custom Pages to see a list of the custom pages for the selected domain.
  2. Click on the Manage Tags link by the page you'd like to tag, or to add your first tag.

  3. If you have already setup tags for this site, you'll see them listed with a checkbox next to each tag. You can also add a new tag name and click submit.
  4. You'll now see a list of your site's tags in the left column under the "Site Tags" heading. By clicking on a tag name, you can quickly filter your custom pages to view only those assigned to the tag. By hovering over the tag name, you'll see an option open up to the left to edit the tag name or remove the tag.

  5. You can add or remove tags to pages in bulk by selecting the checkbox next to each page, or clicking Select All at the top and bottom of your list of pages.
  6. You'll find a select menu at the bottom of your page list to apply the action for the checked pages. You can choose to add the selected pages to a tag or remove a tag from the selected pages.

  7. You can always manage an individual page's tags by clicking on the Manage Tags link.

When you add tags and assign them to your custom pages, you'll see a new "Tags" section appear above the related articles. This is included by default in the [[related]] placeholder for those customers who customize their HTML directly. You do not need to add anything to your layout to show your tags. I've highlighted the Tags section in the screenshot of AirlineRewards.us. By clicking on a tag, you'll see that the page title and summary appear for each article.

We hope you'll use this feature to help visitors navigate your site and provide focused landing pages for search engine visitors.

New Article Rating Option

In a never-ending quest to provide the highest quality content on WhyPark, we have introduced a way for visitors to rate custom and stock articles. At the end of every article, including your custom pages, we have added a rating form.

Don't worry about potentially losing revenue when someone rates an article. The "thank you" page will show your related searches again, making it easy for a visitor to ultimately leave through a sponsored search link.

Ultimately, the average ratings will be shown in the WhyPark "Custom Pages" dashboard for each of your sites, so you can see your feedback. The average ratings will also begin to be factored into article selection for your sites.

New WhyPark Feature: For Sale Link Text

As a follow-up to the recent alternative For Sale Link, we now also allow you to define the text you want to display on your For Sale link. By default, if this field is left blank, we will show the current text of "This Site Is For Sale". You can now display any message you’d like, such as "Buy This Domain Instantly", "Inquire About This Domain", etc. This display text, combined with the ability to send your For Sale Link to any URL will provide you with endless options for selling your domains.

As always, you can modify this setting quickly for any number of names by selecting the sites from the My Sites dashboard and choosing the "Change Sales Settings" option from the Bulk Actions menu on the right.

New WhyPark Feature: View & Reactivate Sites

We're nearing the end of a hot week of updates with yet another...View & Reactivate Sites. Until now, when you've removed a site or sites in bulk from your WhyPark account, they were hidden from your My Sites dashboard. You had to begin adding the site again to pull it out of this cold, dark place for forgotten sites. We've simplified this process by adding a link in the My Sites dashboard under the All Sites section to view those previously removed sites.

Click the "Removed Sites" link to view all of the sites you've removed from your WhyPark account. To reactivate the site or sites in bulk, select all of the appropriate checkboxes and choose the Reactivate Sites option from the Bulk Actions menu on the right. Confirm on the next page and your domains will be active again in your account.

It's just another quick update to make life a little easier in these tough times.

New Feature: Include Domains in Groups As They're Added

You've always been able to use our drag and drop functionality to add a domain or multiple domains to a group. However, we just added a new option to select the group you want to organize your domain(s) in when you're adding a single or multiple sites in your account.

If you have any groups setup in your account, you'll see a menu option called "Add to Group" when adding a single domain or in bulk. That menu has your current list of groups to choose from. If you don't have any groups setup in your account yet, you won't see the option.

This should help you quickly organize new groups of domains, bulk imports and single domain additions without having to drag and drop the sites to a group after they've been added. The drag and drop option will of course still remain active as well.

New WhyPark Account Setting: Domain Portfolio Optimization

Today, we added another new option to help you get the most out of your WhyPark account: Portfolio Optimization. In the My Account > Manage Profile section of your account, we’ve added an option: “Optimize My Sites.” When you check this to yes, we will periodically review your account and make changes on your behalf to increase traffic or revenue.

In many cases, we see accounts where some simple settings changes could make a big difference. In the past, we’ve reached out to customers individually to ask if we could make changes for them. This will help streamline the process to give us permission to change your sites as needed. We’ve included a comments box, so you can let us know if certain changes should be off-limits, or if you don’t want us to touch certain sites.

For the most part, the changes we will make will be to the layouts, number of articles, keywords, images, etc to help better target your sites or increase revenue from the traffic you already have. By default, all customers are opted out, so be sure to login to your account and set this option to “Yes” if you’d like us to optimize your account.

Introducing GroupValuation.com – Free Domain Appraisals

When I can't sleep at night, I tend to sit down and develop new ideas. It's the same way WhyPark came into existence. This past week brought out another quick development project in the form of a free domain name appraisal system: www.GroupValuation.com. The idea behind GroupValuation.com is that you give your opinion on what you feel a domain is worth to your peers. They, in exchange do the same for your domains. The result is that you receive 10 anonymous, free appraisals from 10 different people for each of your domain names.

To get started:
  • Go to www.GroupValuation.com and signup for free.
  • After logging in, you'll see 10 random domains in your dashboard to provide your honest opinion on what you think they're worth.
  • Submit a dollar value for each of the 10 random domains on your page, and you can then submit one of your domains that you would like to have appraised by other community members.
  • As community members appraise your domains, you can view the average valuation, omit values that are significantly over or under the average and recalculate the average valuation.
It's simple, free and easy to get started.

WhyPark Launches Six New Updates

In a constant effort to increase revenue for our customers and match relevant content to your domain themes, we are proud to announce that we have launched a number of new updates this week.

Ad Feed Updates:
  1. Related Search Terms. Over the next week, you will notice many of the keywords in the "Related Searches" area changing. While they will still be very relevant to your site's theme, the keywords selected are based on a requirement for a greater number of advertisers from the top-tier ad feed. More advertiser competition typically means higher revenue for those clicks. Additionally, there will be fewer backfill results needed from the second-tier ad feeds.

  2. Fewer Sponsored Results. While in many cases the second-tier feeds convert well, our focus is to always deliver more results from the top-tier advertisers. We have previously shown 10 "Sponsored Results" when a visitor searches or clicks on a "Related Search" term. We've reduced the number of ads being shown to 5 now. This change provides a greater percentage of top-tier advertisers for visitors, less distractions, and fewer second-tier ads. This feature creates a greater likelihood that your visitors will click on one of the top-tier ads, hence yielding greater revenue for you.

  3. TQ Score. Yahoo provides Traffic Quality (TQ) Scores at an account level, which gives you an indication as to how well your traffic converts for advertisers. We are now providing those scores to our customers, which can be accessed under the My Account tab, then TQ Score section. You must have a minimum number of clicks per day on your account in order to receive a score each week. If a new TQ score is available, you will be able to view your updates on Thursdays. You will also be able to view your TQ Score history back through April 2009.

Content Updates:
  1. Better Content Matching. One of the most frequently requested features from our recent survey was greater control of the article matching and ensuring the highest relevancy possible. Today, it's live. We've made some substantial changes to the way articles are matched to your keywords. Previously, all of the terms were weighted, but multiple-word phrases didn't hold the strength to always be effective. Now, multiple-word phrases are treated as a whole phrase more appropriately to provide more precise matching. You will find a better mix of articles based on your terms, whether they're multiple word phrases or single keywords. You do not need to change anything in your setup and can continue to simply add one phrase or keyword per line in the Site Settings section. Article matching updates will take place over the next 24 hours.

  2. Negative Keywords. There are going to be a lot of happy campers over this update…negative keywords! Finally, you have the option of including terms you DO NOT want included in our keyword article matching. This will give you greater control of your content. To add negative keywords, simply add a hyphen before the keyword or phrase in your Site Settings keyword list. For instance, if I want to include articles about mortgages and bad debt, but not credit cards, my keyword list would look like this:

    mortgages
    bad debt
    -credit cards

This will match the keyword mortgages, the phrase bad debt, and remove any articles related to credit cards, keeping the most relevant articles from that mix.

  3. WhyPark Stock Articles. Our final feature announcement includes an option for choosing how many WhyPark stock articles you want to be included on your site from the WhyPark database. If you have a lot of custom content, you may not want to show any of our stock articles, or fewer than the defaulted 30. You can now make that happen. When adding or editing domains in bulk or individually, you will see a new option in the Site Settings section for "WhyPark Articles" with the option to choose a number from 0 to 30.

As you can see, we have been busy escalating our development efforts and have a number of new features and product roll-outs planned over the next several months. We appreciate all of the great customer feedback that has helped guide us on the development of these new features.

WhyPark Stats API Now Available

By popular request, we've added an API to access your stats in XML or CSV formats. To get started, login to your WhyPark account, click on the My Account tab and then choose the Stats API option from the menu on the left.

To begin using the API, you will first need to generate an API Key which is used to authenticate your request. You can request a new key as often as you would like. Other variables include the start and end dates, your email address used at WhyPark, and the format you would like to receive the data in: CSV or XML.

The response from our API includes the following for each domain name with stats available during the selected date range:
  • Domain ID – unique to WhyPark and can be used to sync with your internal database
  • Domain
  • Visitors
  • Page Views
  • Searches
  • Clicks
  • RPM
  • CTR
  • RPC
  • Revenue
Tell us what you would like to see next through the API? The ability to refine stats further? Options for adding or updating domain names? Drop us an email at support@whypark.com or discuss this topic on the WhyPark Forum.

Next week, we'll be closing the user survey and announcing the winner of the $100 prize. If you haven't completed our short, 6-question survey yet, login to your WhyPark account and follow the link from the My Sites dashboard. We really appreciate all of the feedback sent in to us thus far.

New WhyPark Enhancements

It's been a busy few months at WhyPark since the Parked.com acquisition. We recently had the opportunity to meet with new and old customers and connect with partners at multiple domain conferences including the Domain Roundtable in D.C. and T.R.A.F.F.I.C. in California and Amsterdam. We've also been chipping away at new updates while enhancing current features as well. This week, we've launched the following:

Zero Stock Articles on Home Page Option
Customers who prefer to add unique content themselves or utilize our content writing services, have been asking to have the option to remove our stock content from the homepage. We have made this option available now. In the site settings for a single domain, or in bulk, you can now choose to show 0 WhyPark articles on the homepage, and instead, show only your custom pages.

Template Images
We continue to add approximately 200 new images per week to be used with our dynamic image templates. These templates provide the most relevant images for your domain and also make it quick and easy to get your sites online without having to choose a template manually.

Reporting Updates: Stats Export, Stats Sorting, Bot Filtering
One area that customers often ask that we enhance is the stats section. Now, when you're reviewing your stats by date or site, you can choose to sort the stats in a variety of ways on any column. We also now provide a quick export of your stats in CSV format when viewing stats by site. This will be an area that we'll continue to improve to give our customers the data they need to make good decisions about their domains.

While we've always removed bot and spider traffic from our stats, we are getting increasingly aggressive on blocking and removing non-human traffic. We launched some of these new filters on June 24th and continue to add to our blocklist daily to add further user trust in our stats. Don't be alarmed if you have seen a decrease in visitor traffic starting on the 24th. You will notice that since this date, your click-through rates will have likely increased and ad revenue has not decreased. We have simply removed more junk traffic from your visitors and page views.

Upcoming Blog Series
We are often asked what a customer should do to increase traffic, or build their sites out further with customizations. Over the next few months, we will be writing a blog series focusing on building out a custom domain on the WhyPark platform. We'll walk through the process step-by-step, showing you how and why we've used certain methods, and we will track the revenue and visitor growth throughout this process.

Give Us Your Feedback...Win $100
We've just posted a 6 question survey to solicit customer feedback. One customer who completes the survey will be chosen at random to win $100 cash, paid through PayPal. To complete our survey, login to your WhyPark account and follow the link at the top of the My Sites dashboard.

For those customers in the US, have a safe and relaxing 4th of July weekend.

New Templates & Bulk Add Improvements

We've been having a field day recently with new data, domain analysis tools, etc. that we now have access to through the Parked.com acquisition of WhyPark. We've made a few updates this week leveraging some of this technology including the following:

1. Two new templates that include dynamic images based on the theme or category of the domain. A domain's theme is analyzed behind the scenes and assigned along with a top-level category. We're adding hundreds of new images weekly at the theme level, which is highly targeted and relevant. If we don't yet have an image for that theme, then the category image is used. So, you may find that your site has a category image now, but a week from now has a much more relevant image. If you're using these new templates, your images will update automatically.

2. It's been great to hear all of the positive feedback over the past months about how customers are using our "bulk add sites" tool to get relevant sites online quickly and painlessly. We've improved the tool yet again with these newest updates:

  • More reliable keyword splitting. While it was good before, we think it's much better now with the ability to reliably split many words in a domain, which is then used as the site's title.
  • Automatic categorization of a domain as it's added in bulk.
  • Use of the two new templates above with category or theme-specific images rather than the use of a default template. We're now rotating the use of these templates as domains are bulk imported to add some variety.
  • Related search terms are added instantly, rather than having to wait those pesky 3 minutes between import and assignment of the terms.

Our wheels have been spinning with new ideas that we're feverishly working on. Be sure to subscribe to our RSS feed or visit http://blog.whypark.com often.

New URL Format and More Premium Templates

We're committed to finding new and innovative ways to get more exposure to your sites. Sometimes even seemingly small changes can make a big difference to your traffic. Here are a couple of improvements you can expect the next time you log into your WhyPark account.

SEO-friendly URLs

We know we're preaching to the choir when we stress the importance of quality traffic to your site.

That's why we changed our URL format to be more search engine friendly. Rather than a web page consisting of article.cfm/id/number or page.cfm/id/number, WhyPark URLs are now keyword-rich. For example, rather than http://www.wifinews.net/article.cfm/id/387011, the new URL will be: http://www.wifinews.net/a387011-cell-phone-buyers-to-benefit-from.cfm. With that simple change, search engines will steer even more traffic to your site and potential visitors will qualify your site as being relevant to their search.

The best part is that you don't have to do anything. All links will be automatically updated. Even if you have existing links to pages from outside sites, search engines, or within a customized layout, the old URLs will still resolve. You won't lose any valuable traffic.

Over 380 new layout templates

The right layout can make your site stand out from the crowd. With WhyPark, creating inviting sites is a snap.

Now you can choose from even more attractive layouts that perfectly match the themes of your sites. We've recently added 387 new templates to the premium gallery. Each template includes all of the available placeholders like text ads, related articles, newsletter signup form, RSS feed subscription icon, and an incoming RSS feed display.

You can choose the new templates from these categories:

  • 93 category-based/various
  • 50 US states
  • 244 most populated US cities

If you subscribe to WhyPark's Managed Account, all of these placeholders will be shown. Enhanced Account subscribers have all the included features of a Managed Accounts except for the newsletter signup and RSS subscription. These placeholders can remain in the templates but won't be displayed at the Enhanced level. However, you can always remove those when customizing your layout.

Whether you choose layouts for a single site or in bulk, you can see these premium templates in the Layout section.

We've also added a filter to search through templates more quickly. Filter by category and/or keyword for quicker access to relevant templates.

If you'd like to take advantage of these new premium templates, but currently have only a standard account, you can upgrade by logging into your WhyPark account, clicking on the My Account tab and then Manage Subscription. By upgrading to the Enhanced account at $10 per month or Managed account for $25 per month, you can instantly take advantage of these new templates and many more features not available at the standard account level.

As always, please contact us at support@whypark.com if you have any questions.

Better, Faster, Stronger: User feedback inspires WhyPark's latest launch

WhyPark

Thanks to your feedback, we're pleased to launch the latest iteration of WhyPark. The new interface is even better, faster, and stronger than ever!

Speedier Site

No one likes to wait longer than they have to. With a little tweaking, we made WhyPark even faster than before. Now the whole site -- main dashboard, updates, searches, groups, etc -- is much speedier.

Low Flat Monthly Fees

Ask and you shall receive! The fee structure for Enhanced and Managed Services is now more intuitive (and likely cheaper!). Instead of a per-domain monthly fee, Enhanced and Managed Services clients will be charged a low flat monthly fee per account.

Regardless of how many domains you have in your account, you can take advantage of WhyPark's Enhanced Account for only $10 per month, while the Managed Account is only $25 per month. If you have either type of account already, we'll divide the amount you've paid by the flat rate monthly fee. The next billing date will be pushed out by that many months.

Faster Bulk Uploading

Now you can bulk upload in seconds! We've cut out the middle steps and made uploading many sites a one-step process. All you have to do is choose some of the main settings and dump all of your domains into the form. WhyPark takes it from there and processes your domains: picking a site name based on the domain, assigning keywords from the domain name, and even writing a simple meta description tag. We'll pop your domains into neutral layouts and place these domains in a "Misc/Undefined" category for quick, individual customization after import.

Quicker updates to the add/edit process:

It's back by popular demand! You missed the older version's quick update feature for the add/edit screens so we brought it back. We combined pages in the add/edit sites to make it quicker and simpler to update a single site.

Better Bulk Changes

We thought the "batch updates" feature would be WhyPark's new MVP because it was designed to help customers create batches and make mass uploads easier to manage. It turns out it wasn't greeted with open arms. In the new platform, you can still make bulk updates by selecting domains in the main dashboard by search, groups, category, or full list. Now when you choose an action on the right, you'll quickly make the update to one specific area, such as layout, stats code, monetization, etc. It's quicker and easier with fewer steps and less confusion.

Less Need to Refresh

Screen refreshing was taking up your valuable time so we've taken any simple task and changed it into a quick window for making an immediate choice. Rather than refreshing or switching to a new page after the choice has been made, you'll get a window.

Slicker Reporting

WhyPark reports are now a feast for the eyes and the mind. Your reports will feature graphs and information in a single report page, including: Visitors, Page Views, 404 Revenue, Searches, Clicks, CPC Revenue, and Total Revenue. Plus, traffic from visiting spiders is gone, giving you a clearer picture of real visitors. These traffic stats have been updated with this filter through early December 2008.

Easier Ordering of Managed Services

The order and checkout process for managed services is super easy. It'll never be difficult to get services for your sites.

Need help?

If you need clarification on some fields in a form, just click the (?) icon. You'll get more information without having to change screens.

We're on a quest to continuously improve WhyPark. After all, we want your WhyPark experience to be as simple as possible so that you can enjoy getting your sites online efficiently. So don't be shy! Share your thoughts and feedback on our forum at http://forum.whypark.com.

Direct Monetization of Expired Pages

Sometimes domains that had previously been in use may still contain active links pointing to web pages that no longer exist. These expired pages are goldmines. They provide an untapped opportunity for monetization because they can still get traffic. In the past, this traffic has been redirected to your domain's homepage. However, we have seen higher than average bounce rates on that redirected traffic since the focus of the domain may have changed since the previous site was live.

Now with WhyPark, your expired pages are directly monetized. Rather than redirecting them to the home page, your expired pages will still get valuable traffic on monetized landing pages. Revenue is accounted for in your standard revenue reports.

In the near future, we may make this an option set by you to redirect certain sites to your homepage or monetize directly. As always, we welcome your feedback.

WhyPark Unveils Improved Domain Monetization Methods

WhyPark

Given the near universal concern with the economic crisis, we here at WhyPark take the business of your domains very seriously. That's why we're very excited to announce changes to our monetization model.

New Improved Feeds
Say hello to our new feeds! Here's how they work:

  • If you use the WhyPark ad feed, in many cases you'll no longer see direct ads displayed on the pages, depending on the domain and location of the visitor. When using our ad network, the search box will be integrated on each page of your layout, giving visitors quick access to sponsored listings. Note: You may wish to remove any other search boxes from your pages to avoid any confusion.
  • Your pages will feature a search box and related search links, which will display a page of sponsored links when clicked. These links are monetized on a CPC basis and, as improved feeds, provide you with the highest paying revenue.
  • Sites using the ad network will display related terms for a quick search at the top and bottom of each article. These contextually relevant terms will drive a user from reading an article to seeing useful and relevant ads.
  • In the coming weeks, we'll be offering new options for additional monetization even if you don't use our integrated ad network.

We don't want you to miss out on these new feed partnerships. After all, they're innovative and easy ways to bring you additional revenue. In our testing, there was a significant decrease in a site's bounce rate with the new ad integration and an increase in the time spent on the site. With more visitors staying on, and coming back to your site, you'll have more opportunities to put money in your pocket. This seamless integration of related terms also combats ad blindness that traditional parking services and other third-party ads are facing.

If you are using third-party ads rather than our direct feed, we won't take it personally. However, we'd like to invite you to try them out and see if we can outperform your existing revenue. We'll even make it easier on you to make the switch -- just drop us an email at support@whypark.com and we'll easily switch all of your sites to use our ad network.

Now, even more than ever, we want to make sure your domains are working for you. With these new monetization opportunities, we think you'll be very happy with the result.

Check Your Account Please
While you're at it, we want to make sure all your information is up-to-date. Please take a moment to verify that your tax forms and PayPal address on file are present and correct. Simply login into "My Account" and select "Revenue Settings" to check your information.

New Templates & Subcategories

4 new "large impact" templates have been added. These are clean, wide templates in 4 colors. Preview the new WhyPark templates at http://www.whypark.com/templates/.

Subcategories have been added to further define a domain. When adding or editing a domain name, you will see the category drop down menu now has further categorization under the main categories. It's important to choose a subcategory as accurately as possible since these subcategories are used to match images. If you're using our integrated ad network, the subcategories also help define more relevant advertising on your domains. These subcategories will also be used extensively for upcoming development projects.

Now Accepting Applications for the WhyPark Ad Network

We are just about ready to launch our integrated ad network and are now accepting applications for beta testers. Apply to have integrated ads throughout your WhyPark sites in the Earn Revenue tab of the Domain Manager.

The WhyPark Ad Network brings relevant text ads to your sites to replace having to use a third-party ad network, such as Google AdSense, Yahoo Publisher Network, AdBrite, etc. We plan on launching our ad network on the week of March 17th and will then be testing for a period of 30 days before "officially" launching the network to all customers who would like to use our ad network. A few advantages of using the WhyPark ad network include:
  • Direct integration into your layout for greater visibility
  • During the 30 day test period and on a continual basis, we will be working with various ad networks to determine the highest paying networks for certain categories and keywords. We will also be working with our ad networks to fully optimize the ad inventory across our network.
  • We are using ClickForensics to help us validate all clicks and keep our network's quality high.
  • Beta testers will be paid 100% of the revenue earned during the test period. After our full release, we will paying a revenue share of 60% or more.
  • All payments will be made within 30 days of the close of the month by PayPal. We will be adding direct deposit payments in the coming months.
  • If we are unable to deliver relevant ads on any page due to the visitor's location, your top and bottom ads will be shown instead so no potential revenue is left on the table.
  • We will continue to optimize ads and partner with new ad networks to ensure you are earning the most revenue from your sites. Since we'll "own" the data now, we will be able to continue optimizing our ad feeds.
  • Stats will be available in the Earn Revenue tab, so you can always see how your sites are performing.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. More information about the domain ad network will be available over the next weeks.

Keyword Matching & Keyword Research

We've added two new updates to help increase the relevancy of sites and help you determine niche keywords to use.

First, we've changed how WhyPark matches articles with your keywords. In the past, we've seen the use of general keywords like "car" show articles relating to "carnival" or "cards". We've made some changes to ensure that the keywords being used will be an exact match. This will likely mean less articles per site, but higher quality articles on each site.

Second, we've also added a new feature to the keyword research tool so you can find related terms for each term you're entering. Again, this will help you find several word terms to use, which are much more focused than using general words only. Let's take the term "ipod" for example. As I write this, there are 278 matching articles for "ipod". To look for more focused words, I click on the Related Terms link and find the terms: apple ipod, ipod touch, ipod nano, ipod shuffle and others. You can use this to find more focused keywords that still have matching articles.

It's always better to focus on specific keywords for your sites to create a niche theme. Rather than a 20,000 page site about everything, you're better off with a 75 page site tightly focused around a specific subject.

New Feature: Community Added to the Domain Manager

The Community tab is currently being built to include several new features. The first part of this development that we launched today is what you're reading now... the update posts. We'll be posting updates here to keep everyone updated on our newest features.

Watch for the following new updates to the Community Tab:

  • User Forum - a place to chat with other WhyPark users and WhyPark employees.

This is just the first part of our new community to help us build the features you want, help answer your questions and learn more from others in the WhyPark community.

New Image Templates & IMAGE placeholder

We've added several new templates, which include rotating images. The images are called into the template based on your website's category. So, be sure that you choose a relevant category/subcategory when adding or editing your domain names.

The new [[image]] placeholder can be used in your templates. A random 202 x 152 pixel image targeted to match your site's category will appear in the place. The [[image]] placeholder is also being used in our new templates.
