WhyPark Charity Recipient Chosen

We are happy to announce that the Make-A-Wish Foundation (www.wish.org) has been chosen as the recipient of the proceeds from the WhyPark Charity Domain Auction. For those unfamiliar with the charity:

"Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors, and entire communities."

The average cost to make a child’s wish a reality is over $6,000. In order to be able to sponsor a full wish, we’ve doubled the $3,593 raised through the auction and are pleased to submit a total donation of $7,200.

If you’d like to make a cash donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, you can do so through their web site at https://secure.wish.org. A special thanks again to everyone who donated time, domains, publicity and resources to raise money for an incredible charity.

WhyPark.com Welcomes Stephen Douglas To Its Team

WhyPark (http://www.whypark.com) is pleased to welcome Stephen Douglas, a well-known maverick in the domain industry, as its new Vice-President of Business Development.

Douglas has vast experience in domain name investing and marketing management. Many domainers will recognize Douglas as the executive producer of Name Intelligence’s 2007 Domain Roundtable Conference in Seattle. Notably, the conference boasted $4 million in domain name sales from its pioneering and highly successful streaming live domain auction.

“We’re excited to have Stephen on board,” says Craig Rowe, President of WhyPark. “He brings an incredible amount of industry expertise, and his energy and passion for the business is contagious. Stephen’s refreshing approach challenges the status quo. We look forward to his contributions as we continue to launch new services and enhancements.”

Douglas began investing in domain names in the mid-1990s. He soon shot out from under the radar by advising domain industry companies such as DomainHop and Go Daddy. More recently, Douglas was the senior domain consultant at both BulkRegister and SnapNames. He also created and designed DropGuild.com, the only domain-dropping auction website that allowed users to see traffic on expiring domains before they dropped. DropGuild was purchased by Demand Media, Inc.

“I like pushing outside the space to find much-needed solutions,” says Douglas. “That’s why I look forward to working with WhyPark. Their innovative domain-building system is absolutely essential for today’s domain investors.”

As WhyPark’s Vice-President of Business Development, Douglas manages large domain portfolio programs and strategic partnerships. He also leads general marketing programs and analysis.

“I’ve wanted for years to find an inexpensive solution to build out my domains with relevant, index-friendly content. When I saw that WhyPark’s system does this easily and with little expense, I was hooked. Joining its team was a no-brainer for me, and I’m confident that most domain investors will see WhyPark as a requirement in their monetization options. I believe WhyPark is going to make a major paradigm transference in the domain industry, and I’m honored to work with Craig and the WhyPark crew to accomplish this.”

WhyPark quickly builds domains to become living websites. With standard service, the company’s proprietary system provides new and relevant content daily to clients’ domain names, obtaining search engine visibility for domains instead of relying on type-in traffic or temporary links. Unlike traditional parking services, WhyPark’s content helps establish a domain’s brand until it matures by promoting legitimate indexed websites that offer relevant information for visitors. WhyPark’s suite of premium services is also available for the highest level of content development and SEO for the more advanced domain investor.

Angel Investor Accelerates WhyPark Development

WhyPark.com, an innovative alternative to domain parking, gets fueled by new funding from investor inside its client base.

Demand for a profitable alternative to conventional domain parking is on the rise. As domain owners with minimal returns on traditionally parked sites seek better paying options, business investors are taking note.

One company reaping the rewards of this new trend is WhyPark.com. Today, the alternative domain parking provider announced the backing of an angel investor for its fast-growing development efforts. The strategic new partnership between WhyPark and its investor, Alan Macomber, has gone into effect with the deal’s funds rolled into an enhancement project that is already underway.

Launched in 2006, WhyPark has grown from a simple domain services site into a complex content solution that attempts to add considerable value to its clients’ portfolios. While traditional domain parking services simply put advertising links on dormant sites, WhyPark places high-quality content, in addition to advertising links, on parked domains. The company says its informative textual material brings new visitors to a parked page and keeps them returning.

"Our goal has always been to provide a platform to help users do more with their domains,” said WhyPark President Craig Rowe. “Domain parking has traditionally been a simple means of earning revenue from a domain's direct or remnant traffic. However, it has missed the mark in terms of providing new momentum to domain names, delivering repeat visits, attracting search engine guests and retaining existing visitors. WhyPark attracts and retains visitors by matching highly relevant, full-text content with a domain name's theme. The result is longer user sessions, a significant increase in repeat visits, and the development of new search engine traffic and links."

That WhyPark’s new investment comes from one of its clients is revealing. Users seem to agree with the company’s model and many say they are profiting from it.

“Being one of the first customers of WhyPark, I was amazed at how quickly Craig Rowe developed a user friendly platform which drastically increased the monetization of my domain portfolio,” explained Macomber. “The rapid pace of improvements to the WhyPark platform over the last two years has been incredible. The keyword research function, the WhyPark ad feed, image driven templates, SEO tools, as well as the traffic, click and revenue tracking features have all been funded by the company's internal cash flow.”

Macomber believes his investment, combined with talented management, will enable this early growth stage company to become a leader in the monetization of large domain portfolios. “When the new development program underway at WhyPark is finished, domain investors will be provided with an incredible suite of tools to quickly build-out a website which provides a great user experience and a generous revenue stream," Macomber pointed out.

WhyPark is equally confident that the new investment will help further accelerate the growth it has already achieved. “With an increasing demand for an alternative to traditional domain parking, paired with this investment, we will be able to develop and release a comprehensive set of tools and services to help our customers further monetize and add value to their domain names,” added Rowe.

WhyPark currently hosts over 41,000 domains and says that owners of those sites can expect to see upgrades to the platform as a result of the new investment in the coming months.
